ANZAC Day 2020, Saturday the 25th of April marks a new dawn for radio. This year, Rebel Radio Network stations, Rebel FM and The Breeze have joined forces to bring listeners across their network and Australia a new one hour long ANZAC Day service from 6am.
The service will be available across the networks on FM and via the stations websites (www.rebelfm.com.au & www.thebreeze.com.au) and streaming live via rebel Fm and the Breeze on the Iheart radio platform.
Over the past four weeks, one of the hot topics on Rebel FM’s open mic program with Ash, Jodie and James on the Rebel Breakfast Show has been the cancellation of ANZAC Day. Many Australians and Kiwis were disappointed with their inability to gather to commemorate and remember those who have served our country. The decision to cancel the services was a shock to people everywhere, but gave birth to an idea to celebrate ANZAC Day from isolation. Ash took a call from a listener with an idea that everyone stand at the end of their driveway to show support this year for our servicemen and servicewomen.
The idea took hold and this year, Rebel FM is not only paying tribute at 6am, Rob Doorey from the Breeze More Music Breakfast Show has joined Ash, Jodie and James to create a full hour long service. This year ANZAC Day services will be available from 6am on air and again at 11am on Saturday 25th of April, 2020.
Our service includes an official address by the Minister for Defence Industry and Minister for Emergency Management and North Queensland Recovery, Senator Linda Reynolds, the Last Post, Reveille and the Ode and interviews with service men and women returned and currently serving.
We’re encouraging Australians and Kiwis to turn on their radio, download the app on their phone and commemorate ANZAC Day with Rebel FM or the Breeze from their driveaway, letterbox or lounge room. The program has been made available to other radio stations across the country who may want to contribute to their local ANZAC Day community.
