Life for return veterans and emergency service workers can change in the blink of an eye.
With many suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome dealing with things that daily life brings us can be crippling for them and their family
SV Mystic is sailing therapy for you or those you love with PTSD. The sailing therapy program is the brainchild of Tex, a retired submariner and 20 year veteran of the R.A.N.
Like many others after leaving the service, Tex was diagnosed with PTSD. Fortunately, Tex could talk about it and through his charity work with Tex & Bundy got to talk at various functions on mental health, his life in the service and life on the road with his best mate, Bundy, a stumpy tailed Blue Heeler.
Bundy retired in 2017 after travelling over a million kilometres on the front of a Motorcycle ( several motorcycles!) and in that time helped raise over six million dollars for various charities. Bundy was my assistance dog and a therapy dog.
Tex has always had an unbridled love for boats and the sea. Having seen first-hand how sailing and/or being on the water had a calming effect on most people that suffer from PTSD and other mental related issues decided to take his love for the sea and use it to help others.
If you are a veteran or a first responder that feels you could benefit from a day on the water where you could learn a little about sailing, seamanship, helmsmanship, boat husbandry, marine engineering, navigation or just sit on the deck and enjoy a peaceful day out or talk to people who are in the same boat as you (pun intended!) then get in contact now to book some time out on the water with us.
This free, high seas adventure is supported by Gold Coast City Marina – South East Queensland’s most comprehensive boatyard and marina delivering on time, on budget, on water. Learn more about the Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard here.
