The train service from the Gold Coast to Brisbane airport is facing a major shake-up after the Queensland Government announced several route changes for the state’s south east.

It’s all part of the new $5.4 billion Cross River Rail network which means that from 2025 there will no longer be a direct train service to the state capital’s airport.

Instead, passengers travelling in either direction will have to change trains in Central Brisbane.

Mayor Tom Tate says there’s only one thing that can be done to solve the problem.
