National Op Shop Week runs from Monday 28 September to Sunday 5 October and is held to encourage people to help out however they can.
Perhaps you have good quality items you no longer want or wear, or you love to hunt for a bargain, you could even volunteer in a shop, whatever way you can help will help many others. A large number of community programs are funded by the income from charity op shops, programs that would struggle without your support of op shops plus, buying second hand goods is a great way to reduce our impact on the environment and stop good quality products from going into landfill!
There are so many organizations out there with op shops. Lifeline, Vinnies, RSPCA, AAIC and the list goes on. Ash and I got along to a local Salvation Army Store to bring attention not only to National Op Shop Week but also to the fact that The Salvo’s are celebrating 140 years of service to the community.
We pulled together a race day outfit in minutes so imagine what I could have come up with if Ash had allowed me more time to look around!
Support an op shop today! You know the saying…. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure and there are certainly many treasures to be found.
